Our youth

Our Volks youth are dejected, demoralised and disadvantaged. This is no fault of their own.But allas, it is OUR fault, ( the over 40s)that they are in this situation today. It is US who leave them with NOTHING of the inheritance that their grandparents left to them.We gave their inheritance away (or allowed it ) Their future is black. Leaderless,and without a country to call home. Thanks only to our generation who allowed this thing to happen.
WE had our innings. WE enjoyed a rich and successful time, when we ruled and goverened ourselves. Thanks to our parents and grand parents, who secured our inheritance. We had the army which turned every boy into a man. We were taught manners, discipline and how to work in a team. With a government that looked after us, and kept the wild animals at bay.
They don't have this today. WE have thrown them in the deep end, with a chain around their necks. We turn our back and say "what bad swimmers they are. Not like when we were young."
WE have handed the next generation a dark and dismal future.With no hope. Nothing like what our ancestors handed to us. They fought a world power, savage natives to secure OUR future. We did nothing. Now today we look at this youth with contempt, And treat them like 3rd class citizens , because they have no will , goal or ambition. WE killed the drive in them. Its our fault they have no vision in their future. Because let's face it., there isnt any. WE squandered it., and left them with nothing. WE the "sleg" generation that stood by , when all that our ancestors fought, died for and suffered for, was given away. We did NOTHING. Now we look at the youth like they did something wrong.
Let us try be patient , sympathetic, and understanding of how hopeless they must feel, and the trouble we got them into. Let's build them up . Make them proud of who they are. BOERE, and happy to be around their own people. They cannot feel rejected from there own people. Especially by the ones who lost their inheritance. We owe them.
We a generation of "Baase" with no one to boss. We, the older generation, need them. And they, the young ones, need us. We must see each other as relations, which we are. If they call us Oom en Tannie, I think we can treat them like neefs, our brother's children. Respect works both ways. Let's hope we can work together as a Volk. There is no " them and us" in our Volk. Only US. Some are good and some are bad, but they are still our Volk. Family, thats what we are. LIKE IT OR NOT. In a trench, we all the same. Rich or poor, educated or dim-wit. We are all in this trouble together.
